9/17/2009

IRVINE, Calif., — Advantage Sales and Marketing (ASM) today welcomed its second class of potential future sales leaders in its developmental program tagged ACES—Accelerated Career Excellence in Sales.

"The ACES program is an essential element of our strategy for delivering continued and sustained growth," said Chris Olivier, ASM's President of Sales. "The program provides these dynamic associates the opportunity to be exposed to an all-encompassing, hands-on training program across all of the organization's sales divisions—and is truly a unique opportunity to gain valuable insights from all aspects of the sales function. ASM is committed to providing our clients and customers with an engaged and talented sales team."

The program was piloted earlier this year with the first 11 ASM associate-graduates and their mentors.

"Our first class helped shape the program today," said Jennifer DePaola, ASM's Director of Talent Development. "We thank our piloting class members for their excellent contributions and feedback which has developed into a robust, cross-functional, interactive program for ASM's future leaders ."

ACES is a seven to ten month training program designed to provide qualified candidates with the sales and leadership skills necessary to become successful Business Development Managers or Customer Development Managers—vital roles in ASM's sales organizational structure. The program provides candidates with valuable exposure to cross-functional business units within ASM, including retail, category development, customer services, administration management, deductions management and sales operations.

The ACES participants along with their veteran ASM mentors, gathered for a two-day orientation at ASM's national headquarters in Irvine, Calif. on Sept. 16-17, where participants received an overview of the program and learned their expectations which include:

  • Assisting their mentors in generating sales revenue and meeting with prospective and existing clients.
  • Retail merchandising, store-level selling, tracking and reporting.
  • Learning retail distribution and shelf standards.
  • Managing administration claims, deductions and promotion forms management.
  • Analyzing and interpreting data and application of category reviews.
  • Developing persuasive presentation and delivery.

"The ACES program is all about developing our future leaders," said Pamela James, ASM's Vice President of Human Resources. "Steeped in organizational processes, industry and client insights, ACES is designed to give these associates the tools and skills of the trade which benefit our customers and clients. Congratulations to the latest class of ASM's prospective leaders."
